Darman, his daughter Ida, and Slamet the servant, go into the woods to hunt. Ida was lost when Darman and Slamet are chasing a tiger. Ida ends up in Tarsan's hut. They become close though at first, Tarsan has problems speaking the Indonesian language. Then he agrees to go to the city and learn how to be an urbanite. It is not easy as he is even harassed by Ida’s friends who do not like him.
Jaim (Benyamin S) and Rais (Mansjur Sjah) were neighbors and worked in a sawmill. However, these two men always quarreled and fought. His son and wife also joined in. Because of their quarrels, Jaim and Rais were expelled from their jobs. Jaim became a duck salad vendor, while Rais' wife became a herbalist. The constant bickering of these two poor families (the role of the creditors in Jaim's family life is also depicted) culminates in their house catching fire. And Mr. RT (A. Hamid Arief), who happens to be the committee for the departure of transmigrants to Lampung, sends them to the transmigration area.
Linda, eldest of the Mulyadi family, wants to continue her studies at a university in Yogya because she realises her potential. Her father approves this even though they are struggling financially as he is just a low-ranking staff in a bank. But her mother disapproves. Then her friend, Nancy, introduces her to Lukman, a playboy who likes her. Lukman becomes a bad influence and she is carried away by the lifestyle of the rich and forgets how hard her parents work to pay for her studies. The father drives a motorized rickshaw after work while her mother becomes a street vendor. One night, Linda and her friends are driving a car recklessly and hit the motorized rickshaw that her father drives. Linda’s friends run away while she stays to help her father. Suddenly, the scene changes to the school’s graduation where words of wisdom are given and Linda graduates thanks to her parents’ hard work.
