Killing The Shadows is a bawdy comic fable set in the Ottoman Empire during the mid-14th century based on two legendary figures in Turkish folkore, the jester Hacivat (Beyazit Ozturk) and the nomad Karagoz (Haluk Bilginer), men who apparently lived and died by their sense of humour.
The film tells the friendship story of three young people named Ali, Tufan and Selim. Selim is a musician, Ali and Tufan are car mechanics. They live in the same house. Elif, who works as a manicurist, joins the group as Ali's girlfriend. Meanwhile, Tufan meets Mehtap, a rich woman. However, Mehtap's involvement in illegal activities causes trouble for Tufan. Learning about the situation, Elif, Ali and Selim decide to save Tufan from this environment.
Cellat, the Turkish version of Death Wish, sticks fairly close plot wise to the template of the American film, with some scenes and bits of dialogue being almost identical.
