Having recently lost her twin sister to suicide, Helen Daniels is sent to a remote English cottage to rest and recuperate by her uncle. Upon arrival she meets a few of the locals who befriend her. She describes her difficult childhood growing up in New York and gradually, having won her trust, she is drawn into a world of witchcraft, paganism, and mythological beasts.
