Two college friends must split their close bond when one uproots her life. Years later, a sudden reunion could tether their lingering feelings.
Kabayan undergoes a long journey to get his soul mate, Nyi Iteung, since Abah, the latter’s father, does not agree to have a son-in-law from the village. Kabayan has to go to the city to find his luck, assisted by his friend, Joni Kemod and his master, Nora Nori. Now, Kabayan, as a city person, is coming home to propose to Nyi Iteung. The film ends with Abah's acceptance of Kabayan for what he is.

Then Budi disguises himself with a thick moustache and sunglasses and goes to Ani’s house as a piano teacher. Now Ani and Budi can be together freely in her house. Meanwhile, a taxi passenger hears Budi singing to himself and offers musical instruments that he just bought. Budi forms a dangdut (traditional Indonesian music) group with his friends and calls it Soneta, which quickly gains success.

Koswara’s brothers and sisters-in-law trade his wife, Aisah, to Kardiman, until his wife goes insane and dies. Agus Herman, son of Kardiman, is as brutal as his father and Mrs. Kardiman, also has an impure background. Her daughter, Nana, who is born without knowledge of her biological father, is almost raped by her stepfather, Kardiman. It is also suggested that Mrs. Kardiman desires Koswara. An experiment from Indonesian directing legend, Teguh Karya, that was not entirely successful.
Filled with surrealistic dream scenes, this fairy-tale-like film sees Buang, Bernardus, and Bakar, three prisoners who run away during a prison revolt. They meet Bunga, a small lonely girl whose parents are busy with work, and whose house is secluded from the neighbours. This meeting transforms the prisoners, into normal decent persons. Happy to find new friends, Bunga steals food from her house for the three new friends. The fairy tale ends when the three convicts are recaptured.
Legendary directors Wim Umboh and Sjumandjaja, decided to experiment by producing a script being written at the same time of the shooting. Mama is a complex story with two seemingly unrelated narrative threads. The first story revolves around Sanca and Anani. The second is about Ulli and Pandji, and in between the two stories is a third narrative, about Ulla, a religious prostitute and Ulli’s sister, and Suwaka.

Unfortunately, Yanto is attracted to Lila, while Lila is interested in Darso, the brother of Nuri. This five-sided love story becomes more colourful when Lila’s father’s cheque disappears. Then the bank sends Ahmad to investigate the case.

Together with a failed painter named Rutaf and a film director named Kadjiman, these artists meet a man who works at the National Trade Bank. Interested in the arts, he helps to promote their activities.
