ONYL started as a young actor for Dulaang Sibol and baritone soloist for the world-renowned Ateneo Glee Club.
After finishing his AB Political Science, he pursued further studies in choral conducting at the UP College of Music and Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music.
He made his professional theater debut at Repertory Philippines’ CINDERELLA in 2001 and has since become a sought-after performing artist for stage and television; and music director-vocal coach for summer workshops, musical plays, and corporate events.
He was the man behind the success of the Peninsula Manila's Sing@Ning: Search for the Ultimate Voice; and was a Nominee for Best Musical Director for Repertory Philippines' JEKYLL AND HYDE and THE PRODUCERS at the 2012 and 2013 Gawad Buhay!, and Finalist for Best Musical Direction for Gantimpala Theater Foundation's SANDOSENANG SAPATOS at the 2014 Aliw Awards.
Recently, Onyl made his independent film debut in the 2014 Gawad Urian nominated Cinema One Original movie directed by Benjie Garcia, the PHILIPPINO STORY; and thereafter, landed a role in the film version of Herlyn Alegre's critically-acclaimed Virgin Labfest play, IMBISIBOL, directed by the multi-awarded Lawrence Fajardo, to be premiered at the 1st Sinag Film Festival this March 2015.
He will be next seen performing onstage for The 4th Wall Theatre Co.
's SINGAPURA: THE MUSICAL directed by Broadway luminary Greg Ganakas, opening this May 2015 Singapore's Capitol Theatre.
