1828 in the German port city of Bremen: Two very different women collide in an age that has no place for either of them. One strives for a career in law, at a time when women aren't even admitted to universities. The other has lived life outside the law and may now have to pay the tab. One of them needs to get her head together – while the other would do anything not to lose hers. -- Based on a true story.
After a lot of trial and error, Hilde Reimer has finally decided to marry her late love Theo. Immediately after the wedding, Theo moves in with her in the Reimersche family villa - nothing seems to stand in the way of their mutual happiness. Or is it? While Theo soon gets to feel the idiosyncrasies of his new wife, Hilde quickly realizes that she can hardly keep up with the pace of the agile Theo in everyday life.
Hilde Reimer is overjoyed when her three grown-up daughters and their partners move into the old family villa. The only thing that really bothers Hilde is that her three girls are still not married, despite having children and being very much in love.
The childless sisters Regina, Anja and Susanne are outraged. Their wealthy mother is determined to become a grandmother and offers her fancy villa as a reward for the first of the three daughters to give her a grandchild. But Anja has completely different plans: she is going to emigrate to Brazil with Karin, the love of her life.
Bele is 16 and has big hands and feet. Nothing's right: neither her coat, her first love, nor the first video she shoots with friends. And Agnes, her wonderful mom, isn't right either. Agnes is the opposite of Bele: She is pretty, successful, perfect. She gets the good things that life has to offer, such as a fulfilling job and a new lover. If only it weren't for her daughter Bele, who mercilessly expresses her needs as only a 16-year-old "bad girl" can.
