’Edavela (Idavela) Babu’ was born to Late V.
Raman (Retd.
Administrative Assistant Kerala Police Dept) and Santha Raman (Retd.
Music Teacher, Govt High School) on 11th August at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur District of Kerala.
He did his High Schooling at Govt.
Model Boy's High School, Irinjalakuda and then took his degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda.
During his school days he actively participated in all extra curricular activities and won many prizes and was also the recipient of a scholarship, being first in Folk Dance in the 17th State School Youth Festival,1977.
During college days he kept the same spirit and won 1st Place in the years-1980, 81, 82, 83- Representing Christ College, Irinjalakuda for Dance Competition in the Calicut University Youth Festival.
Greatly Impressed by his skill during his college days, Director Sri.
Mohan gave him a role in ‘Edavela"- in 1981.
It was a turning point in his life.
He then acted in more than 100 films including one Hindi film (Meena Bazar).

Other than these, he has worked as Comperer and given many live shows on Doordarshan, Asianet, Surya, Kairali and IndiaVision Channels.
He has also lent his voice for dubbing, to Heros like Vineeth, Rehman, K.
