Autobiographical documentary about an Easter vacation spent by the Ruivo’s family in the country town of Castelo de Vide, where the resurrection of Christ is traditionally celebrated with a “rattle” with a pagan resonance.
A large group of people gather around a table for a meal. Food is served under a noisy, almost circus atmosphere. Gifts are made and congratulations are sung. At some point there are already those who sleep, who read, who date. The environment is increasingly fragmented. In the end there is only dirty dishes and silence.
The near future: Bruno is trying to win back his ex-wife. Under the pressure of her domineering mother and a new (arranged) boyfriend, Jorge, Isabel brings charges of harassment against Bruno. Bruno is trialed and sentenced. A device designed to suffocate him if he gets within 100 meters of Isabel is implanted in his throat. But that doesn’t stop Bruno, he practices holding his breath.
