Η Έλια Καλλιγεράκη (Ελευθερία Καλλιγεράκη) γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα (Γαλάτσι) τo 1947.
Είναι γόνος μεγάλοαστικής οικογένειας της Αιγύπτου.
Το 1967 εκλέγεται Σταρ Ελλάς και αναχωρεί για το Μαϊάμι των Η.
Π.
Α όπου συμμετέχει στο διαγωνισμό Μις Υφήλιος και κερδίζει τον τίτλο της Μις Φωτογένεια έχοντας προκριθεί στην τελική δεκαπεντάδα.
Επιστρέφοντας στην Ελλάδα ασχολήθηκε με τον κινηματογράφο, το θέατρο και την τηλεόραση.
Συμμετείχε και σε κοσμικές ταβέρνες με ρεβί πίστας δίπλα στον Γιώργο Οικονομίδη.
Στον κινηματογράφο έχει συμπρωταγωνιστήσει δίπλα στους: Λάμπρο Κωνσταντάρα, Ρίκα Διαλυνά, Κώστα Βουτσά, Νίκο Ρίζο, Καίτη Παπανίκα, Γιώργο Μοσχίδη, Γιάννη Βογιατζή κ.
ά.
Στο θέατρο έχει παίξει δίπλα στους: Αλέκο Λειβαδίτη, Ρένα Ντορ, Τάκη Μηλιάδη, Σταύρο Παράβα, Νίκο Σταυρίδη, Μπέτυ Μοσχονά κ.
ά.
Επίσης έχει παίξει έναν από τους βασικούς ρόλους της τηλεοπτικής σειράς Η γειτονιά μας.
Σύζυγός της είναι ο ηθοποιός Πέτρος Πανταζής.
Από το γάμο τους γεννήθηκε ο γιος τους Πετρής.
