Based on a story by H.C. Andersen, with new magical heroes, terrifying “woodpunk” robot dogs, real puppet theater, songs & dance numbers. Little Hans, a kind itinerant storyteller, opens his magic box, takes out his puppets, and, together with his spectators, creates a new fairytale. But not every character obeys the puppet master’s strings. The truth of the fairytale breaks everyday rules: here loyalty and friendship make miracles; love destroys the strongest magic spells; and a song wins a war!
Reflections of the shift worker Ivan, who, due to life circumstances, overcomes more than 9000 km to return home. On his way he meets many interesting people: military, students, mothers with children, men, women, old people. The landscapes outside the window, time zones, people are changing. But their stories remain, stories about life, love, hope and faith.
A young guy Sasha runs into a second-class car of a long-distance train with a guitar in a case. He, like many other musicians, tried to conquer Moscow, but failed. Sasha settles in a compartment to an adult shift officer Ivan returning home. For a long time on the way, the heroes manage to make friends, write songs, create their own musical group and perform on the platforms in several cities. But what will happen to their group when Ivan leaves at his station?
Leningrad, one summer in the early eighties. Smuggling LPs by Lou Reed and David Bowie, the underground rock scene is boiling ahead of the Perestroika. Mike and his beautiful wife Natasha meet with young Viktor Tsoï. Together with friends, they will change the destiny of rock’n’roll in the Soviet Union.
A look at the story through the prism of the present. Artists in front of the audience reincarnate in the heroes of the film (the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky; the women he loved and left him; the friends who admired him and backed away from him; the ruthless “Knights of the Revolution” who proclaimed him his banner) and lead the viewer “to” Mayakovsky, forcing him to live his love, creative, and human drama as his own.
The early Middle Ages. A time of heavy swords and dark blood law. The ruling clan is in discord. The guilt for the accidental death of the brother has fallen on the Grand Duke.
