Anna Yuryevna Netrebko (born 18 September 1971) is a Russian-Austrian operatic soprano with an active international career who has performed prominently at the Salzburg Festival, Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, and The Royal Opera.
Discovered and promoted by Valery Gergiev, she began her career at the Mariinsky Theatre, collaborating with the conductor in the theater and performances elsewhere.
She was noticed globally after playing Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the 2002 Salzburg Festival.
She had been known for her rendition of lyric and coloratura soprano roles but proceeded into heavier 19th-century romantic roles, such as Leonora in Il trovatore and the role of Lady Macbeth in Macbeth.
Since 2016, she has turned her focus to verismo repertoire.
In 2015 she married Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov, with whom she has been performing frequently since.
She has been an exclusive artist for Deutsche Grammophon since 2002.
She has won multiple Echo Klassik Awards, and was included on the Time 100 list in 2007.
She was named a People's Artist of Russia in 2008, and an Austrian Kammersängerin in 2017.

"Giovanna d'Arco; ossia, la pulzella d'Orléans" is an operatic dramma lirico with a prologue and three acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Temistocle Solera. The opera partly reflects the story of Joan of Arc and is based on a play by Friedrich von Schiller, although claimed by the librettist to be "an entirely original Italian drama." If the thought of Anna Netrebko strutting her stuff in a suit of armour and tin hat sets your factor tingling then this is a must. It's an inconsistent opera but has some quite wonderful music along the way. The rest of the cast is good and the production won't offend either. Get it for Ms Netrebko's incredible performance alone.

She soon leaves him, however, to become the mistress of a rich nobleman. Thus begins her descent into criminality and depravity, all too soon dragging the besotted Des Grieux with her, until she is imprisoned. Despite its tragic story, the opera is full of French charm and vitality – typified by the ambiguous Manon herself. Her plight is touching because of the subtle play of innocence and calculation in her character. The score contains many sparkling arias and ensembles, moving rapidly from moods of exuberance to tenderness, with perfect dramatic timing. He confesses his feelings to Violetta, who is already suffering from consumption. The Willy Decker production of La Traviata, recorded live at the Salzburger Festspiele in August, 2005. Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore is one of the staples of the comic opera repertory. The plot hinges on whether earnest but dim-witted Nemorino will snag Adina, the flirtatious heroine. She's a tease who takes up with Belcore, an army sergeant, to make Nemorino jealous. After numerous (and humorous) plot twists that include a phony love potion, it all ends happily. Adina and Nemorino declare their love for each other, Belcore is dumped, and the fraudulent Dulcamara does a landslide business in love potions. It's all a fast-moving bundle of fun, especially with the star-filled cast of this 2005 Vienna State Opera performance.
